Pierce Field, E. Providence, RI - The Townies took advantage of a strong pitching performance from Sophomore Brad Hertzler and beat a tough Cranston West Falcons team.

April 18th 2002
East Providence 8  Woonsocket 7
Renaud Field, Woonsocket, RI - The Townies battled hard against a perennially strong Woonsocket squad, winning with a sacrifice fly in first extra inning.  Rick Koutros pitched another strong game for the Townies but did not factor in the final decision.

April 16th 2002
Lincoln 9  East Providence 6
Lincoln, RI - The Townies roared out to a 4-1 lead through the first 4 innings, and then succumbed to a mixture of walks and infield hits in the bottom of the fourth and lost its lead 6-4.  Lincoln took advantage of this inning and continued on with a 9-6 win on its home field.  

April 11th 2002  
Cumberland 6 East Providence 5
  
Cumberland, RI - The Townies squandered a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the 6th inning due to a late inning defensive lapse in their infield play.  Cumberland tied the game with 4 runs and pushed across the winner in the bottom of the 8th inning.  The Townies are now 2 - 1.

April 9th  2002
East Providence 4   LaSalle Rams 0
 

Pierce Field - East Providence, RI  - The Townies improved to 2-0 in the A-North division with a 4-0 win against rival LaSalle Academy.  Brad Hertzler pitched acomplete two-hit shutout striking out 8 batters.  Nick Andrade and Dewel Glover contributed hits in a 4-run outburst in the 6th.   Dan Cabral had a hit and squeezed in a run for the Townies.

April 5th 2002
East Providence 8   Warwick Vets  6
Veterans Field - Warwick, RI - The Townies opened the 2002 campaign with an 8-6 win over Warwick Vets.  Justin Koutros got the win in his first start of the season.  Koutros pitched 5 gritty innings and contributed with an RBI double in the Townies 4-run fourth inning.   Nick Andrade contributed two hits for the Townies and Brad Hertzler got the save.
