FEB 15th, 2011--  TOWNIES PLAYOFF HOPES ARE WIPED OUT AS CRANSTON EAST BEATS LASALLE TONIGHT.  EP needed some help from rival LaSalle in order to force a Play In game.  East turned back LaSalle by two on a last second shot to win the game.

FEB 14th, 2011--  EP CLOSES OUT REGULAR SEASON BY KNOCKING DOWN MT. PLEASANT 65-43.  EP won a game they had to have in order to stay alive for a playoff birth.  It was a team effort that won the game as four Townies were in double figures, led by Dana Andrade's career high 17 points.  Andrade and Derek Andreoli each had a double double, with Dana adding 10 rebounds and Derek having 11 points and 10 rebounds.  Joe Carnevale and Buddy Poole combined for 28 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists.  Robby Delgado had 6 assists and 4 rebounds as well.  This is the last home game for Seniors: Derek Andreoli, Dana Andrade, Joe Carnevale, Robby Delgado, Kyle Flavin, Brandon Normann, Nick Pacheco, and Buddy Poole.

The Playoff Scenario is based upon EP getting help from Cranston East and Hope.  East must lose to LaSalle tomorrow night, and Hope must lose to NK on Wednesday night.  If that happens all three teams would have 8-10 league records and would then have to play Play In games.  This would be determined by the RIIL.  Check back for updates.

FEB 13th, 2011--  TOWNIES FINALLY HIT THE WALL, LOSE AT NORTH KINGSTOWN 55-37.  The crazy schedule and back to back games finally caught up with EP as the team came out extremely flat and could not make any shots (29%) for the game.  The first half saw EP score a season low 12 points.  EP is not mathematically out of the playoffs as they must win tomorrow at home against Mount Pleasant and would need help from some teams to force a tie breaker and resulting  in Play-In game(s).  Tomorrow night's game will also be Senior Night. Game times are 5:30 and 7.

FEB 11th, 2011--  EP CAN'T CLOSE OUT SAINT RAY'S, DROPS KEY GAME 65-62.  With the regular season coming to a close, the Townies need every win they can get to secure a playoff bid, and this one slipped away.  The Townies led most of the first half, were up 2 at the break 33-31, and went back and forth in the second.  Saint Ray's built an 8 point lead, and EP could never make the key play to get the game tied.  Joe Carnevale and Derek Andreoli combined for 37 points and 10 boards, and Brendan Quigley added 14.  EP has a quick turnaround as they travel to North Kingstown for a 5:00 game.  This is a varsity only contest.

FEB 8th, 2011--  TOWNIES TRAVEL TO SMITHFIELD AND WIN A TIGHT ONE 46-45.  It was a typical Smithfield, East Providence game.  Both teams struggled to score, and played tough defense.  Victor Adewusi came off the bench to score a career high, and team high 13 points and 12 rebounds.  Brendan Quigley and Joe Carnevale combined for 18 points and Derek Andreoli and Dana Andrade added 15 and 7 rebounds.  EP needs to keep the momentum going as they travel to St. Ray's on Friday night.  Game times are JV (5:15) and Varsity 7:00.

FEB 7th, 2011--  EP LOSES AT HOPE 48-45.  The Townies just didn't have what it took to earn the win tonight.  EP played from behind all game, had 19 turnovers, were out-rebounded on the glass, and didn't have the offensive execution needed to get the win.  Joe Carnevale had a game high 17 points, including 5 threes.  The Townie JV team won their game 54-48.  EP will play a varsity game only tomorrow night at Smithfield.  Game time is 5:00.

FEB 4th, 2011--  EP PICKS UP KEY WIN AGAINST PORTSMOUTH 65-58.  Less than 24 hours after a tough loss to Coventry, the Townies regrouped, started quickly and led 19-8 to start the game.  Then, the energy and fight disappeared.  EP played poorly in the last 10 minutes of the first half and trailed 36-28 at the break.  Having found some energy and 4 key threes from Joe Carnevale sparked the Townies.  Carnevale finished with a game high 26 points (6 threes). Buddy Poole and Derek Andreoli combined for 27 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists, and Robby Delgado had 7 assists. The Townie JV team picked up a win, 56-49.  EP will start a busy stretch next week (4 games) at Hope on Monday.  Game times are 5:30 and 7.

FEB 3rd, 2011--  TOWNIES LET ONE GET AWAY, LOSE TO COVENTRY 65-62.  EP led the entire game up until the 3 minute mark, then made crucial turnovers to help Coventry steal the game.  The Townies led 36-26 at the half, came out flat to start the second, and then put the lead back up to 7 and it stayed there until the 3 minute mark. Coventry started to apply some pressure and the turnovers started.  EP had a chance to tie it at the buzzer but the 3 point shot was just short.  Joe Carnvale continued his solid play with a team high 19, and Derek Andreoli added 18. .  Victor Adewusi had a monster game on the glass with 17 rebounds.  EP has no time to feel bad for themselves as they return to the court tomorrow night at home against Portsmouth.  Game times are 5:30 (JV) and 7:00 Varsity.

FEB 2ND, 2011--  SCHEDULE UPDATE!!-- THE TOWNIES WILL PLAY COVENTRY TOMORROW (THURS THE 3RD) AT 5:30.  THIS GAME WILL BE THE FIRST GAME OF A DOUBLE-HEADER.  FOLLOWING THE BOY'S GAME, THE GIRLS WILL PLAY BARRINGTON.  THERE ARE NO JV GAMES FOR TOMORROW.  EP WILL PLAY AT NORTH KINGSTOWN ON SATURDAY THE 12TH AT 5:00.  THERE WILL BE NO JV GAME ON THIS NIGHT.

Jan 30th, 2011--  TOWNIE JV TEAM BOWS OUT OF JV STATE TOURNEY, LOSING TO MOUNT PLEASANT 58-51. The game started well for the Townies, as EP led at the half by 4.  However,  second half foul trouble, poor free throw shooting and too many turnovers cost them the game.

Jan 29th, 2011--  EP TRAVELS TO SK AND COMES UP WITH KEY WIN 48-40.  EP and SK played their typical low scoring game as EP raced out to a quick 10-0 lead only to have the game tighten up in the first half.  EP led 23-17 at the half.  The Townies could never put the Rebels away, getting the lead up to 11, but never keeping the margin above 10 for an extended time.  Joe Carnevale had a game high 16, along with 5 rebs, 3 assists and 2 steals.  Buddy Poole also added 5 boards as the guards rebounded well against SK.  The Townie JV team beat SK 43-33 in their tuneup before their first round playoff game tomorrow against Mt. Pleasant at 10 am at North Providence HS.  Both team will play at North Kingstown on Monday.

Jan 29th, 2011--  TOWNIES GAME AT SMITHFIELD HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED.   The new date is Tuesday February 8th at 7:30.  This will be a Varsity only contest as there will be a double header, with the Smithfield girls playing at 6:00.

Jan 25th, 2011--  HENDRICKEN RAINS THREES ON THE TOWNIES, BEATS EP 71-67.  The Hawks hit 10 three pointers for the game, 5 crucial threes in a 3 minute span in the second half, to turn a 7 point deficit into a 8 point lead.  Hendricken's run broke open a game that EP dominated from the opening tip.  EP handled the Hawk pressure and played tough nosed defense to lead 31-30 at the half.  EP's 3 minute lapse cost them the opportunity to build on the 7 point lead and put the Hawks away.  Jawaan Lyles led the Townies with 18 points and 4 assists, while Buddy Poole added 14 points and 4 assists.  Victor Adewusi provided a big spark in the second half with 4 points and 6 rebounds.  The Townie JV team dropped their game 68-44.  Both teams will return to the court on Thursday at home against Mt. Pleasant.  Game times are 5:30/7.

Jan 19th, 2011--  TOWNIES HEAD TO WOONSOCKET AND PICK UP THEIR 4TH LEAGUE WIN 53-40.  EP took control of the game early in the first half and never let go of the lead.  EP had its share of ups and downs but shook off a cold stretch in the second half to secure the win.  EP had a season high 15 assists (4 for Poole, and Delgado) and a season low 8 turnovers.  Joe Carnevale had a game high 24 points, and Derek Andreoli continues his solid play with 11 points and 8 rebounds.  EP has a quick turnaround as they will play at Smithfield on Friday night, game times are 5:30 and 7:00.  The Townie JV team lost a tough one in  triple overtime 54-49.

Jan 14th, 2011--  EP COMES OUT STRONG AGAINST RIVAL LASALLE, LEADS WIRE TO WIRE, BEAT THE RAMS 56-43.  Sparked by the Senior trio of Derek Andreoli, Joe Carnevale and Robby Delgado, the Townies put together two strong halves to earn a key Division 1 win.  Andreoli had another double double (10 points, 10 rebs) Carnevale had a game high 23 points (5 threes) and Delgado provided much needed toughness, energy and leadership (4 rebs, 4 assists). EP never trailed and had a 20 point lead in the second half.  The Townie JV team picked up another win 63-54.  Justin Fornes and Mathias McGonagile led the way for the Townies.  Both teams return to league action on Tuesday night at home against old Division 1 East rival Mt. Pleasant. (5:30/7:00).

Jan 10th, 2011-- TOWNIES AND CRANSTON WEST GO DOWN TO THE WIRE, WITH WEST PREVAILING 57-56.  EP fought back from a 12 point second half deficit to have two shots at tying the game inside of 30 secs, only to have the game slip away at the buzzer.  EP lengthened the game with fouls inside of two minutes as West helped the Townies cause by missing numerous free throws.  EP made two and one's and had three great looks at the basket trailing by three.  Buddy Poole's three point shot with 2 secs left to tie the game was just short.  Derek Andreoli had another double double with 13 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Townies.  The EP JV team won their game 61-46.  Mathias McGonagile led the way with 21 points.

Jan 7th, 2011--  TOWNIES HIT THE ROAD AND GET HAMMERED BY CRANSTON EAST, 70-47.  It was an ugly game from the start.  EP managed to shoot 34% for the game including 1 for 13 three point range.  EP trailed by four at the half 27-23, after trailing by as many as nine in the first half.  The second half saw EP miss numerous layups and the inability to finish fast break opportunities. As a result of the offensive slump the defensive end suffered as the team was beaten badly in transition the entire second half. EP gave up a season high 70 points, most of those were transition lay ups.  The Townie JV team won their game 51-43.  Both teams will be back on the court on Monday at home against Cranston West.

Jan 3rd, 2011--  EP ONCE AGAIN STARTS SLOW BUT TURNS IT AROUND IN THE SECOND HALF, BEATS CLASSICAL 62-50.  The Townies again dug themselves an early hole after starting slowly and getting outworked by Classical.  EP managed to lead at the half 24-22, thanks to closing the half on a 12-0 run.  The second half saw better play and a more alert team.  Derek Andreoli had a double double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.  Joe Carnevale had a team high 17 points.  The Townie JV team returned to action after the holiday layoff and picked up a 60-33 win.  Andre Bland led the way with 13.  Both team will return to the court on Friday night at Cranston East (5:30/7:00).

Dec 29th, 2010-- EP STARTS FAST EN-ROUTE TO WIN OVER CENTRAL FALLS 62-44.  The Townies managed to start focused and determined and knocking down some early shots doesn't hurt either.  The team had good ball movement and limited CF to 23 first half points (35-23).  Joe Carnevale had a game high 21 points including 4 threes. It truly was a team win, and hopefully will provide some needed confidence to the team.  EP will return to league action on Monday at home against Classical.  Game times are 5:30/7:00.

Dec 28th, 2010-- TOWNIES OVERCOME ROUGH FIRST HALF, DEFEAT PONAGANSET 54-46 IN THE PATCH.COM EAST PROVIDENCE HOLIDAY CLASSIC.  EP managed to shoot only 33% in the first half, and committed numerous silly fouls and found themselves trailing 28-22 at the break.  The second half started with a 11-0 run and EP never looked back.  Some shaky decision making in the closing minutes, and poor free throw shooting (7 for 20- 35%) made it tougher than it should have been to close out the game.  EP will play Central Falls, who beat Classical in OT at 7:00, and Classical will play Ponaganset at 5:30.

Dec 23rd, 2010--  EP CAN'T PUT TOGETHER A FULL 32 MINUTES, LOSE AT CENTRAL 68-56.  The up and down early season continues for EP, as the team shows glimpses of what it can be, and also shows an inability to take care of the basketball and make winning plays.  EP trailed 28-26 at the break and fought hard to make it a two point deficit. Central opened up a 12 point second half lead only to have EP run off 10 straight to get it back to 2.  A few costly turnovers and missed open shots turned the game back into Central's favor. Derek Andreoli paced the Townies with 15 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.   EP will return to action on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week in the Patch.com Holiday Classic.  EP will play Ponaganset at 7:00 ( Classical and Central Falls will play at 5:30).  Wednesday's games will be EP vs. Central Falls at 7:00 and Classical vs. Ponaganset at 5:30.

Dec 20th, 2010--  TOWNIES CAN'T OVERCOME SLOW FIRST HALF, LOSE TO ST. RAY'S 66-55.  EP came out flat and as a result played a lackluster first half.  The Townies couldn't finish numerous early plays that led to a lack of confidence.  in the second half Joe Carnevale nearly willed the team to a win with some big shots, including a three to take the lead 45-44.  Unfortunately St. Ray's made some huge shots of their own to secure the win.  Carnevale ended up with a game, and career high 28 on 69% shooting.  Junior, Victor Adewusi provided tremendous energy and defensive toughness as well (7 rebounds.) EP looks to get back on track on Thursday night at Central (PCTA Building).  Game time is 7:00.  The Townie JV team won their game 77-35, as 4 Townies were in double figures, led by Alex Hurley.

Dec 17th, 2010--  EP COMES UP A LITTLE SHORT AT PORTSMOUTH 68-65.  The Townies overcame a slow start to lead at the half 37-30.  Portsmouth fought hard to take the lead in the second half as EP's turnover problems (44 in last 2 games) continue to slow the team's progress.  EP traded threes down the stretch and Brendan Quigley (game high 20 points) had a three at the buzzer that just came up short.  It was a better overall showing for the Townies, but the team needs to take care of the ball.  The Townie JV's dropped their game 53-52.  Mathias McGonagile had a game high 26.  Both teams return to the court on Monday at home against area rival St. Ray's (5:30/7:00).

Dec 13th, 2010--  TOWNIES DEFEAT HOPE 42-38.

Dec 10th, 2010--  EP WINS AN UGLY ONE OVER BARRINGTON 41-34.  In a typical early season game, with too many turnovers, missed scoring opportunities and nerves, the Townies found a way to pull out the win.  Joe Carnevale (14 points) hit a big three with about 1:30 left to get EP back within two and key free throws down the stretch by Derek Andreoli and Brendan Quiqley sealed the win. Dana Andrade was a monster on the glass with 15 rebounds.  The Townie D only let up 34 and that was with a few key miscues in the execution.  EP will open league play on Monday night at home against Division 1 East rival Hope.  Game time is 7:00.  The Townie JV team turned in a poor defensive night, dropping their game 60-45.

Dec 2nd, 2010--  TOWNIES OPEN THE SEASON WITH A WIN OVER TIVERTON 52-48.  The Townies played a solid all-around game to start the season as Derek Andreoli led the way with 17 points.  EP had the usual first game jitters and mistakes, but fought through them and stayed together.  EP will return to the court next Friday night (10th) at 7:00 against Barrington in a Non League game.  The Townie JV team picked up their first win as well, 67-40.  John Vaughn had a game high 20 points.

Dec 1st, 2010--  PLEASE NOTICE THAT GAME TIMES FOR THIS SEASON HAVE CHANGED.  VARSITY GAMES WILL START AT 7:00 AND JV GAMES AT 5:30.
