Date Opponent Score Game Summary
12/4 TIVERTON 44-42 Injury Fund Game. Aggressive defense except when we got tired. We got pushed around on the boards. We didn't move as well as we should on offense...but that will get better as the season progresses. Obviously we struggled from the floor (36.4%) which requires us to get the ball inside more to increase our chances of scoring! INSIDE then OUT!
Phil had a big night! Marcus was great defensively and Joe Scanlon provided a much need offensive spark while taking the FIRST charge of his career! Paul Costa plays 32 minutes.
We got away with one! We need to get better offensively and dominate on the boards and hold teams down. Big Challenge this weekend!
12/6 CranstonWest 51-42 Very poor game. Got absolutely beat up especially underneath. The Four biggest guys on the team COMBINED for 1 defensive RB! It is apparent that you were outhustled and out hearted as well! Very disappointing. There is no excuse for lack of effort and heart. You can't just wish to become good you must work. Many of you are assuming that you are working hard and are going to be successful.......wishing doesn't get it done!
Poor defense as well we allowed the ball inside to easy allowed CR West to get Off RB and easy scores. When the game was on the line (2nd half) we LET them shoot 67% from the floor!
OK this is a learning process. You better learn your lessons quick. Teams are faster quicker stronger and better in out league! Fix things fast. Nothing will happen unless you commit to working harder and playing harder! Wins are not handed to you-----so don't wait for them! However teams are more than happy to hand you losses!
12/7 Johnston 54-33 Got a win although we still are not putting forth the effort that is required to play in our league. Big guys (speed RB heart and hustle) is really hurting us!
We looked terrible vs Man to Man (why??)
Got a little more help on the Defensive boards but we should have dominated. A team getting a defensive RB against you should be a slap in the face! Take it as a challenge to not let that happen.
More work more dedication and more heart are required everyday every minute when we get together.
Rogers (a very tough defensive team) on Wednesday!
12/11 Rogers 56-51 Great win on the road. Very good high school game. You guys couldn't have had a better start. 12-2 and even 18-4! Turned the ball over way too much (still averaging a 2-1 ratio TO to Asst-this must stop).
Pedro was huge. It goes to show you that someone with zero points can have such an impact on a game. Know your role and do what you are supposed to do.
Marcus had a big night including three baskets down the stretch when we were really struggling. Phil with 8 assists (there is a lot more there too you could be doing the double double thing!)
You can't expect to shoot 25% from the FT line an win close games. The reason we stopped scoring was they fouled us and didn't convert FT. I think we missed 5 straight FT in the second half. Let this be the lesson!
12/16 Barrington 73-62 Too many turnovers and missed chances (loose balls defensive rebounds). Pretty good effort played OK.-- which is not good enough to win. The first time we let a team get more than 58 points and it is a loss. Allowing 58 points keeps us in the game! Giving the opponent second chances is hurting us.
Had some real nice things going (Press,  motion offense) but never sustained the run. We would get ahead... then make mistakes that cost us. A stretch of 4 or 5 key possessions in a row where we turned it over or didn't get the look we wanted. Can't do that and win.
Another learning experience all building for the season then the playoffs.
The season is a marathon not a sprint. WORK WORK WORK and improve on the things you are being taught.
FEEHAN at home Friday night. They are historically good and very physical!
12/20 BISHOP FEEHAN 58-46 Struggling putting the ball in the basket! We are not doing the fundamental things offensively (ball getting to middle of zone...attacking seams with a dribble...making the defense move...etc) and we are allowing teams to get great looks at the basket while we watch! We need a fundamental change in how we are doing business here. We have to stop pouting and get things done the way they are supposed to.
12/23 Westerly 67-53 46 Second half points. Our goal was 55 for the game. I would say it is obvious that we got away from what we wanted to do....what made us successful in the 1st half. There was an opportunity for some guys to make a statement when they got in the game unfortunately it was a bad statement.
Remember this season is a marathon.....not sprint. We need to develop faith in each other and the ability to work as a group for a common goal. That takes time faith and hard work. There is never a substitute for hard work.
12/26 PONAGANSET 78-68 A horrible start (down 11-2 in 2 minutes and 22-6 after about 5 minutes) followed by a great effort. I do not understand what happened early...but I like the way it finished. We are still trying to find our identity as a team.
Marcus had a big night (22 with 2 big dunks) Sean and Jamie were great and Phil settled in and did a nice job. We are still learning what we can do and what we should do.
A much needed victory for our confidence. South tonight (who is very good!)
12/27 SOUTH KINGSTOWN 71-42 Great game start to finish. Everyone played well. We really took it to them defensively. Offense looked very good...especially adjusting to what the defense did. End of a nice holiday season....on the to real season!
1/3 Hope 54-48 Ugly game. We GAVE a great opportunity away. 54 points is not bad.....until you look and see we gave 38 in 2nd half (25 in last 7 minutes!!). 54 points is very bad if you only score 48! TURNOVERS and poor thinking will continue to haunt us; and until we improve, will create bad things for this team. We CANNOT turn the ball over 20 times and shoot 31% from the floor----and expect to win! This was a grind it out game that we did not WANT to grind out.
0-1 in league. Two big games this week. "WIN your games at home and steal a few on the road" ...we have two home games this week. GET focused and get back on course!!
1/8 WOONSOCKET 52-26 Great 2nd Half! Defensive intensity was superb the BEST I have EVER seen here at EP! You held them to five 2nd half points!  Great effort.
1/10 CLASSICAL 68-52 Another good defensive effort leads to a win. Turnovers still hurting us. A great start (16-2 or something like it) always helps. Keep focus on what we do well and what we absolutely need to do in order to be successful (defensive intensity and RBs) and reduce what hurts us (turnovers and inconsistency).
Big Game for Sean. And Ray Pedro and Ralph did a great job!
1/14 LaSalle 77-65 Disapointing night. Should have given them a better game...and probably should have won. Started both halves watching (down 9-2 in 1st and then another 9-0 run to begin the 2nd). Defense was not there tonight. (77 points???) We were soft defensively...and did not make it hard for them to score. LSA shot well but we can do some things to make thier shots harder!!
1/17 St. Ray's 72-58 Outhustled and outplayed from the opening tap. We always need to win the little battles in order to be successful. We watch guys shoot over us...and expect shots not to go in. It doesn't happen that way. Defense is the key to any victory.....and we did not do it well tonight.
Tough week......0-2 against big rivalries...and no break in sight..at Mt Pleasant and at Central this week.
Lets see what we are made of????
1/22 Mt. Pleasant 68-47 Another tough road loss. Losing is bad enough but you should be IN THESE GAMES...not out of it in the early part of the 2nd Half. We were doing what we wanted to do for most of the 1st half (ball control..slow game...RB and defense) then we started the second half turning the ball over 10 out of the first 15 possessions......BALLGAME!
Right the ship. We MUST win all of the little battles. We are not a team of highlight plays...we need to be a team that is a pain to play against....defense..hardnosed..methodical...smart!
Regroup...re-commit...and work through the tough times.
1/24 Central 53-45 Nice win. Finished the road trip with a "w". Played nice defense especially post defense in second half. Press really slowed them up. Dwayne had a monster night with 16 rebouns and 9 blocks and Caroulo back in action with 4 huge three pointers! Ball control was nice...season low on Turnovers!
Little things get it done for us! Defense...ball control..hustle and hard work.
