TOWNIES ARE JV STATE CHAMPS!!!!
EP turned back Hendricken 65-56 in overtime. In a game
that saw the Townies down 11-2 early, trail 27-19 at the half,
and go down 11 in the second half, EP just wouldn't quit, and
wouldn't stop fighting. The Townies were kept in the game
in the first half by Brian Poole's scoring. He had 13 of
EP's 19 first half points. Joe Carnevale was quiet in the
first half (0 points), but he caught fire in the second half
hitting 5 three point shots. Dana Andrade hit three key
free throws down the stretch and had two monster blocked shots
to lead the Townie defense. Derek Andreoli and Trey Britto
worked hard to deny Hendricken's leading scorer a point over the
final 12:30 of regulation and 4 minutes of overtime.
Branden Baroboza and Brian Poole kept the Townies defensive
pressure on in their box-and-one defense. Every member of the
team has contributed to make this team CHAMPIONS!!!

injury 5 minutes into the first half. EP trailed 35-18 at
the break. The second half saw EP play tougher as they cut
the lead to 7 with 5 minutes left. The Townies couldn't
get the margin below seven the rest of the way. This marks
the final game for seven seniors; John Caruolo, John
Villari, George Leonardo, John Woodley, Abe Daramola, Ray
Lambert and Kenny Gordon. Many thanks to the seniors for
their hard work and effort to represent EP in a positive way.

In OT, the Townie defense clamped on the Rams, and EP made
enough free throws to seal the win, 68-60. On Sunday, EP
played Cranston West and controlled the game from start to
finish, although some sloppy play in the closing minutes kept
the Falcons in the game. EP prevailed 65-52. The

usual fight and defensive energy. The second half saw
North open up a 10 point lead with five minutes to go only to
have EP pressure them into turnovers which cut the deficit to
four. EP had a chance to get it to 2 with 1:15 left, but a

the free throw line, and turned the ball over numerous
times inside of 3:00. In spite of EP's horrid shooting,
the team still led by 9 with three minutes to go. EP's
lack of composure allowed the Saints to take the lead and win
the game. The team will play tomorrow at 5:30 at CCRI/Warwick,
in the CCRI HS Basketball Invitational. EP will play Fitch

TO CRANSTON WEST 65-52.
The Townies came out with no sense of urgency, or intensity, and

aggressive and began to rain 3's down on the Townies. EP
trailed 36-22 at the half. John Villari single-handedly

EP had overcome a slow start and battled to take the lead in the
first half and led 26-24 at the break. EP played tough
defense and moved the ball well in the first half. In the
second half EP opened with a few silly turnovers, which would be
a preview to the later stages of the half. The Townies
committed 12 second half turnovers against Mount's pressure
which enabled them to go on 12-2 run at the 10:00 mark of the
second half. The offense sputtered as a result of the turnovers,
and only could muster up 19 second half points. EP
couldn't get the deficit back below 5 the rest of the way.

The
Townies turned a game that was back and forth in the first half
into a blowout in the second. EP had too many careless

many defensive lapses to win. This is certainly a learning
experience for a green team so early into the season. The
team opens the league schedule with rival Mt. Pleasant on Friday
night at 7:30. The Townie JVs picked up a convincing 72-53
win. Joe Carnevale had a game high 25 points to lead the
