March 6, 2010-- TOWNIES LOSE QUARTERFINAL GAME TO NORTH KINGSTOWN 62-47. The Townies just didn't have the necessary intensity or fight to go out and win this game. EP trailed early due to poor free throw shooting, lack of defensive rebounding and the inability to finish early plays. NK capitalized on the EP miscues and led by 15 at the break. The game was played even in the second half (28-28) but the Townies couldn't get the game below a 12 points margin. Donald Williams had a team high 19 points and 7 boards and Joe Carnevale played a solid all around game with 14 points. January 26, 2010-- EP SUFFERS BAD LOSS AT CUMBERLAND 63-61. Quite simply the Townies didn't have the killer instinct and ability to put away the Clippers, as they hung around and stole the game from EP. The Townies led for the majority of the game but couldn't finish plays, make free throws (6 for 15) Cumberland shot 20-26, or get defensive stops as Cumberland took the lead with 4 minutes to go. The Townie defense gave up 42 second half points, the highest of the season, and EP had to fight to get back tied with 30 secs to go. Cumberland was fouled and made both ends of the 1 and 1, and EP had a turnover and never got a shot off to take the lead or tie. This is a setback and the team will have to regroup quickly as rival St. Ray's is Friday's opponent. The Townie JV team got back into the win column with a 62-41 victory.

January 19, 2010-- EP DROPS GAME TO HENDRICKEN 83-62. The Townies returned to the court with a different demeanor and attitude, quickly jumping out on Hendricken 11-2. The first half went back and forth and the Hawks put together a run to lead by 7 at the break 39-32. EP couldn't respond to a Hendricken run early in the second as the lead grew to 20. Hendricken shot the lights out, shooting 56% for the game including 60% in the second half. Overall the team put forth a much better effort and can learn a lot from this game. January 15, 2010-- TOWNIES ARE HAMMERED AT CRANSTON WEST 62-37. EP put out a pathetic, lackluster effort combined with selfish play and 22% shooting, add that up and you get a blowout. Despite playing a horrible first half, EP trailed only 23-20. However the second half was all about poor defense, one on one offense and an inability to finish. The team had thought they were gaining confidence and momentum only to have it thrown away by tonight's performance. The Townie JV team won 55-53 on a game winning layup at the buzzer by Jawaan Lyles.
January 13, 2010-- EP HITS THE ROAD AND PICKS UP WIN AT CRANSTON EAST 69-60. Townies led wire to wire but certainly made it interesting with some defensive lapses and lack of rebounding. Buddy Poole continues his solid all-around play with 10 points, 5 boards, 6 assists, and 3 steals. The wing trio of Poole, Barboza and Carnevale combined for 27 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. The Townie JV team picked up another win 58-33. January 5, 2010-- EP CAN'T SNAP SHOOTING SLUMP, LOSE TO HOPE 62-56. The Townies had numerous good shots rattle around the rim and go out,and missed too many layups, as Hope made theirs en-route to the Division 1 East win. EP was 18 for 50 (33% and that was after shooting 29% in the first half) to Hope's 21-44 (48%) for the game. EP had good looks that didn't go down and that led to a lack of defensive focus and energy. Hope built a lead as big as 17 only to see the Townies continue to fight to get it down to 6 points. Donald Williams led the way with 24 points and 6 boards and Derek Andreoli, returning from injury, added 11 points and a team high 9 rebounds. EP must bounce back on Friday night at home against Central. Game time is 7:30.
December 30, 2009-- TOWNIES GO STONE COLD IN THE SECOND HALF, LOSE AT PORTSMOUTH 55-42. EP had a lead 26 to 23 when a Portsmouth player hit a 3/4 court shot as the buzzer sounded to tie it at the half. The second half saw EP shoot 30% and Portsmouth got some easy transition baskets to open the game up. EP was led by Donald Williams' 16 points and 6 boards and Dana Andrade added 10 and 6. EP returns to league play on Tuesday at home against Hope HS.
December 28, 2009-- EP RETURNS TO COURT AFTER CHRISTMAS BREAK AND TURNS IN A LACKLUSTER PERFORMANCE, BEAT PONAGANSET 47-43. EP certainly didn't come to play tonight, as the team had no life, or fire in playing at Ponaganset. The team had a season high 24 turnovers, and lacked any sense of urgency. On top of that the team was gave up too many offensive rebounds, and shot 50% from the free throw line. All of these key game points need to improve if the team expects to make any noise in the league. The JV team posted a 53-28 win. Both teams will play at Portsmouth HS on Wednesday, game times are 5:15 and 7:00.
December 22, 2009-- TOWNIES DROP GAME AT HOME AGAINST LASALLE 71-65. EP didn't play a full 32 minutes in order to earn the win. The second half had EP pick up its intensity, and the execution got better as well. Donald Williams and Dana Andrade played solid games with 25 and 17 points respectively. Dana also had 11 rebounds and 2 blocks. Donald added six boards and 4 steals. The Townie JV team picked up a win, 74-63. The team was led by Jawaan Lyles 24 points. December 18, 2009-- BUZZER BEATER FRIDAY AS BOTH TEAMS WIN ON THE ROAD AT THE END OF THE GAME. The Townies needed all 32 minutes to win tonight's Division 1 East opener at Mt. Pleasant (54-53). EP and Mt. Pleasant played a forgettable first half that saw both teams play tentatively and and sloppy. EP led 20-17 at the break. The second half saw both team get into a rhythm and Joe Carnevale drained 6 threes for a game high 20 points. The Townies trailed 53-52 with 12 seconds on the clock as senior, Donald Williams hit the game winning shot with 8 seconds to go on a pull up runner in the lane. Mt. Pleasant's last second shot was short. The team progressed from Tuesday in their second half execution and situations at the end of the game. The Townie JV team also won at the buzzer as they led in the first half by double digits, only to go down double digits in the second half. Brendan Quigley hit a corner three to tie the game and was fouled in the act. He stepped to the line and hit the free throw to give the team a 66-65 win. December 15, 2009-- EP DROPS HARD FOUGHT GAME AGAINST CLASSICAL 49-44. The Townies opened the regular season with a loss to a good Classical Team. EP couldn't knock down enough shots (34% from the field and 27% from the line), and get the key defensive stop to take the lead. Classical opened up a 10 point lead in the second half only to have the Townies come all the way back and tie the game. Unfortunately Classical had better execution down the stretch and EP learned some lessons that will help during the season. Dana Andrade had a solid game with 12 points 14 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Branden Barboza contributed 7 points, 9 boards and 4 blocks. The Townie JV team won their game 60-42. Alex Hurley led the way with 16. EP will open league play on Friday night at Mt. Pleasant. The Townie defense gave up only 15 second half points as the team began to get up to game speed. With it being so early in the season, players are still feeling their way into roles and positions.
