State Finals - East Providence vs. North Kingstown

The Townies came into this match with a better record against a team that struggled throughout the season but who had been playing well in latter part of the season. The Townies offense did not play well but the defense was the key along with Michaela Del Rosso's phenomenal game.

11/19 vs. North Kingstown Finals CCRI Lincoln
The Townies once again gets a chance to travel to Lincoln to CCRI Lincoln for their fourth straight shot at the title. The Skippers have said that they are the best of the best in the State and that they can take on anyone anytime and win. Having said that, it's amazing how they did not finish in the top of the Southern Division. I guess the Townies beat the Best team in the state and became THE best team in the STATE.

11/17 vs.South Kingstown Semi Finals CCRI Lincoln
The Townies traveled once again to CCRI Lincoln to meet the Rebels who as of late has been tearing the Southern Division. The Rebels come ion with an impressive  record. The first game the Rebels began strong and things seemed to be going their way. However the Townies took control and never looked back. In the second, with great serving and poor play by the Townies the Rebels took a lead of 17-7 lead and had an easy game. In the second and third the Townies did not allow the Rebels to get into any type of groove and we were able to break them down and they never recovered.

Scores:25-14,12-25, 25-8,25-13

11/15 vs.Mount Saint Charles Quarter Finals
The Townies hosted its 9th Quarter final in just as many years. Having beaten The Mounties in the 2 regular season game the Townies felt confident but not cocky. In the first set the townies were in total control. However in the second and third the Townies committed too many unforced errors and allowed the Mounties to stay close.

Scores:25-17,25-21, 25-18

11/5 vs.Coventry
The Townies hosted the Oakers tonight who comes in with a 15-2 record and 1st in the Southern Division. The Oakers defeated the Townies in the Koch eye Tourney and hopefully the Townies can make a come back tonight. The Townies did not come completely flat tonight, but because of the Senior night emotions it did affect the play in the first game. The defense again was the difference. Also the serve errors were kept to a minimum.

Scores:25-21,25-19, 25-14

11/3 vs.Chariho
The Townies traveled to Chariho  country to face a struggling Charger. Although they haven't had the best season the Chargers never quit. The Townies for the first time did play to the level of their opponent.

Scores:25-9,25-11, 17-25,25-13

11/1 vs.Barrington
The Townies hosted the undefeated Eagles from Division II. With a 16-0 record The Eagles came in ready to test the Townies. Test they did. The Eagles played a great match tonight. They caught the Townies on their heels and could have easily pulled off an upset. The Townies somehow found a way to answer the challenge.

Scores:25-19,25-22, 25-16

10/27 vs. Lincoln
The Townies hosted the Lions tonight. The Lions who nearly defeated the Townies in their first meeting came in believing that this would be the night. Unfortunate for the Lions they came in to our den at the wrong time. The Townies played well tonight especially in key spots. Our offense was much better.

Scores:25-19,25-19, 25-21

10/25 vs. Cumberland
The Townies traveled to Cumberland to face a 4-8 record team who, aside from having to struggle every match give their all. The Clippers tonight gave the Townies all they had. The Townies did their part in helping them with unforced errors.

10/22 vs. LaSalle
The Townies hosted the Rams who had been playing well up to this point but dropped a tough one against Burrillville. The Townies came out strong playing great defense. The serving tonight was much better and we also did a much better job on the net as far as blocking is concerned.

Scores:25-14,25-14, 25-13

10/19 vs. Woonsocket
The Townies hosted the Novans tonight. This second half have improved tremendously. Defeating LaSalle and MSC the Novans are looking to sneak into the playoffs. The Novans came in tonight and gave their all. The Townies did not play to their potential. For whatever reason no one took control tonight.

Scores:25-19,25-19, 25-20

10/14 vs. Burrillville
The Townies traveled to Bronco country to face a confident team especially after the Koch Eye Tourney which they came in second. Before the game the Broncos confidence showed. They were ready for the Townies. Unfortunate for them the Townies that showed up tonight was firing on all cylinders. The Townies seemed much more confident with Sony in the lineup.

Scores:25-21,25-18, 25-9

10/12 vs. Cranston East
The Townies after a long tournament on Monday traveled to C.East  to face the Thunderbolts who as of late handed the skippers of N.Kingstown its third defeat of the season. With this in mind the Townies were well prepared and made things easy for themselves by playing a well rounded match. The Townies are still struggling from the service line but not as inconsistent as they have been in the past.

Scores:25-13,25-7, 25-14

10/8 vs. South Kingstown
The Townies who traveled South today expect a tough Rebel squad. Although young, the Rebels, are very experienced and fundamentally sound. The Rebels came out smoking and caught the Townies by surprise with their intensity. They easily took the fist two games but the Townies bounced back and were able to keep themselves in the contest by taking games 3 and 4. In the fifth the Townies were able to take a 9-5 lead but to fall behind 11-9. The Townies took the lead at 12-11 but fell behind 13-12. The Townies were able to tie it and took the lead 14-13 but this night belonged to the Rebels.

Scores:21-25,22-25, 25-19, 25-20, 14-16

10/6 vs. Mt.S.Charles
The Townies hosted the Mounties tonight. Although they came in with a 2-5 record the Mounties have been very competitive in their matches losing some close sets. It has been a while since the Townies played  with so much energy as they did tonight. The team was sparked by the all around play of Michaela Del Rosso who probably had the best performance of her career thus far. Equally impressive was the defensive play of the Townies.

Scores:25-17,25-11,25-14

10/4 vs. Pilgrim
The Townies Traveled to Pilgrim to face a squad who is in its rebuilding stages. However, in the first game they gave the Townies a run for their money. Losing 24-21 the Townies finally decided to stop the unforced errors and pulled out a very difficult first set. The second and third we played much better.

Scores:26-24,25-11,25-19

9/30 vs. N.Kingstown
The Townies hosted the 6-1 Skippers tonight. This game will give us an idea on what to expect from the other side. We were concerned as to how we would fair against the Southern Division an d this game gave us a good idea being that the Skippers are in first place. for the first time this year the Townies played much better though only in spots. We kept the mistakes down and played much better defense.

Scores:25-20, 17-25, 25-13, 25-21

9/27 vs. Lincoln
A barn burner
The Townies traveled to face the Lions. With only one loss the Lions came in very confident and obviously ready for the Townies. Like in the past three matches the Townies have been very lethargic and on their heels. The defensive play kept us in the game. Our serve and hitting has been very questionable as of late. Our setting has been very good. At this point the Townies are looking for a 'go to player' although no one has stepped up to the plate. The Townies struggled throughout the match making too many unforced errors.

Scores:22-25, 25-18, 25-16, 19-25, 15-13

9/23 vs. Cumberland
The Townies hosted the Clippers tonight. The Townies did not play their best tonight but came out with a victory.

Scores:25-16,25-11,25-20

Scores:25-17,25-12,25-9

9/17 vs. Woonsocket
Recap: The Townies traveled to Woonsocket For  a rematch of the finals last Spring. The Townies come in at 3-0 and the Novans 1-2. No matter the record one thing we know for sure is that when these two teams meet it brings out the best out of them. The began strong and never looked back. Having lost their entire senior squad the Novans were not as skilled as in the past.

9/7 vs. Mt.St.Charles
Recap: The Townies traveled to Woonsocket to face the Mounties who have been working very hard to nock the Townies off the top. The Mounties played very close the first two sets giving the Townies something to think about. But in the third the Townies were able to put it all together and play like the defending champs. Jill Boucher was called from the JV to set for the Varsity and to no ones surprise she did a great job in her first game.
Scores:25-18
