2010--
TOWNIE QUARTET EARNS POSTSEASON ACCOLADES.
The Rhode Island Volleyball Coaches
Association has recognized Victoria Blaydes, Alex Amaral, Alyssa
Dias, and Kim Thomas for All Division and All State Selections.
Blaydes, Amaral and Dias were selected to the Division 1 North
First Team All Division. Thomas was selected Second
Team All Division. Amaral and Dias were selected Second Team
All State, Blaydes to the Third Team All State and Thomas
to the Honorable Mention Team. The girls worked hard to be
recognized and should be proud of their accomplishments.
Nov 4,
2010--
TOWNIES ARE SWEPT OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS BY NORTH
KINGSTOWN 3-0 ( 23-25, 25-27, 20-25).
It certainly was not the Townies' night. EP had
19 hitting errors, over 15 serve receive errors, and had poor ball
control the entire night. NK earned all of the key points when
it counted and EP couldn't close the door in Game 2 to make it a
match. This will be the final match for Seniors Victoria Blaydes,
Charlotte Newton, Abby Ricci, Ashley Santos, and Brianna Starck. Thank you
girls for your contributions to the program and your hard work and
effort.
Nov 3,
2010--
TOWNIES WILL PLAY
NORTH KINGSTOWN IN THE QUARTERFINALS THURSDAY NIGHT AT HOME.
NK went 5 games with Classical in their First
Round match tonight and will travel to EP tomorrow for a 6:30 match.
Nov 2,
2010--
PLAYOFF UPDATE!!
EP will still be playing the
winner of Wednesday's Classical at North Kingstown match, however,
if North Kingstown wins the Quarterfinal match will be played at
home on Thursday at 6:30. Should Classical win, the
Quarterfinal match will be played on Friday as originally scheduled.
Check Wednesday night for the update on when the game will
definitely be played. Come out and support your Townies!!
Oct. 30,
2010--
TOWNIE JV TEAM FINISHES SECOND AT STATE
CHAMPIONSHIPS. The Townies fought hard all day, won their
Pool with a 6-0 record and had to fight back after dropping the
first game of the semi-finals. The team rebounded to win their
semi-final match and faced Mt. St. Charles in the final. Too
many unforced errors allowed Mount to take the early lead and
eventually win the Championship. In what turned out to be a
long, long day, the girls gave a tremendous effort and should be
proud of their season.
Oct. 29,
2010-- 2010
STATE CHAMPIONSHIP BRACKET IS SET.
EP is the #2
Seed out of the North and will play the winner of North Kingstown
(#3 South) and Classical (#6 North) in the Quarterfinals on Friday,
November 5th at 6:30 at home. If EP should win the Quarter Final
Match, they would play the winner of Coventry (#1 South) and
LaSalle/ Chariho on Tuesday, November 9th at URI/Keaney Gym.
Oct. 27,
2010--
EP 3 Cranston West 0 (25-12, 25-15,
25-11). The Townies took care of the Falcons and finished
the regular season. EP's playoff positioning will be announced
on Friday evening. The Townie JV Team will be competing in the
JV State Championship at North Kingstown on Saturday. The
tournament will start at 9:00 a.m.
Oct. 25,
2010--
EP 3 Classical 0 (25-11, 25-11, 25-10)
The Townies rebounded from some sloppy play of late to play a
complete match. The team showed some fire and cohesion that
has been missing for a while now. The Townies communicated
with each other and made the smart play en-route to the win.
The Townies will close out the league schedule at Cranston West on
Wednesday at 6:30.
Oct. 21,
2010--
EP 3 Cranston East 1
Oct. 18,
2010--
TOWNIES GET SPIKED BY CHIEFTAINS 3-0 (21-25,
25-27, 22-25).
Ponaganset outplayed EP, made the tough plays when it
counted and didn't make careless errors to win the match. The
Townies on the other hand had 12 blocking errors (net calls, and
missed easy blocks), numerous off target passes on free balls and
too many hitting errors. Every time EP needed to make a big play it
couldn't come through. Despite a pitiful performance EP led at
the 15 point mark in each game. Unfortunately for the team it takes
25 points to win each game. EP will play at home on Thursday
against Cranston East.
Oct. 14,
2010--
EP HITS THE ROAD AND DEFEATS LASALLE 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-21).
The Townies were able to win the match but did it in lackluster
fashion. Victoria Blaydes had a game high 16 kills and 3
blocks. Alex Amaral had 25 assists and 7 digs. EP will
play at Ponaganset on Monday evening. Game times are
4:45/6:30.
Oct. 8, 2010--
TOWNIES DEFEAT LINCOLN 3-0 (25-5, 25-6, 25-16).
EP came out fast and worked the fundamentals to earn the win.
The middle combo of Kim Thomas (9 kills) and Victoria Blaydes (7
Kills) dominated the match. EP will play in the Koch Eye
Invitational on Monday at CCRI/Lincoln. The tourney will start
at 9:00. EP returns to league play on Thursday at LaSalle.
Oct. 6, 2010--
EP BATTLES MOUNTIES POINT FOR POINT, DROPS THE
MATCH IN 5 (25-22, 23-25, 22-35, 25-20, 16-14).
The fans certainly got their money's worth for this
match. EP played a solid all around match and showed the
composure, fight and intensity of a team that can make a run this
season. EP had a chance to win it in the 5th game with leads of 10-8
and 14-13. They couldn't finish it off but that doesn't take
away from the teams effort and play. Tremendous rallies, players
diving all over the court and into the stands were hallmarks of this
match. Victoria Blaydes, Kim Thomas and Mary Monagle had 13
kills each, Alex Amaral had 31 assists, 2 kills and 8 digs.
LIbero Alyssa Dias played her best match of the season, when it
mattered most, with 31 digs. This match can be a jumping off
point for this team for the rest of the season if they can sustain
the level of consistency they showed tonight. EP will return
to action on Friday night at home against Lincoln (5:00/6:30).
Sept.
30, 2010--
EP STARTS FAST AND TURNS BACK THE FALCONS 3-0
(25-11, 25-14, 25-17). Starting matches quickly and
getting ahead has been an issue for this year's team. Tonight
EP turned it around. The team played with energy and intensity
from first serve through point 25. The team was paced by
sophomore Mary Monagle's team high 7 kills. Setter, Alex
Amaral, added 16 assists, 2 kills and 2 aces. Libero, Alyssa
Dias had 25 digs and 4 service aces, and Kim Thomas had 7 kills and
5 blocks. EP will start the second half of the league schedule
at Mt. St. Charles next Wednesday (5:00/6:30).
Sept.
28, 2010--
TOWNIES BEAT CLASSICAL 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-15.)
Sept.
23, 2010--
EP OVERCOMES SLOW START TO BEAT CRANSTON EAST 3-0
(25-20, 25-11, 25-15). The Townies
have to figure out how to start a match. EP once again dug
themselves a hole and had to fight to get out and win game one.
The team calmed down and played with more confidence
and aggression in games two and three. Junior Kim Thomas had a game
high 9 kills and 2 blocks and Alex Amaral had a season high 25
assists, 5 kills and 3 digs. Alyssa Dias and Brianna Starck
shored up the defensive backline with solid passing and some timely
digs. EP will return to action on Tuesday at home against
Classical. Game times are 5:00 and 6:30.
Sept.
21, 2010--
EP PLAYS AN UNEVEN MATCH BUT DEFEATS PONAGANSET
3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-22). The Townies played in spurts
and also played sloppy at times in their straight sets win.
The team is trying to find themselves and trying to reach a level of
solid, consistent play. Junior Alyssa Dias played her best
match of the season with 21 digs, and 6 aces. Alex Amaral had
16 assists, 6 digs and 2 aces and Victoria Blaydes had a team high 6
kills and 3 blocks. The Townies hit the road on Thursday as
they head to Cranston East to face the Thunder Bolts. Game times are
5/6:30.
Sept.
17, 2010--
TOWNIES TAKE DOWN LASALLE 3-0 (25-17, 25-22,
25-9). EP showed a bit more enthusiasm and fire tonight
enroute to the straight sets win. EP rode the roller coaster
of inconsistency in the early games, but put together a clean
third game to take care of the Rams. Victoria Blaydes had a
game high 9 kills and 2 blocks and Alex Amaral continued her steady
play with 15 assists, 2 kills and 2 aces. EP will return to
action on Tuesday night at home against Ponaganset.
Sept.
14, 2010--
TOWNIES PLAY A LACKLUSTER MATCH, BEAT LINCOLN IN 3
(25-17, 25-16, 25-13).
EP came out flat and lacked the
energy to really put together a solid match. Again the team
had silly, fundamental errors which kept the team from developing a
continuous flow. EP will play at home on Friday night against
rival, LaSalle. Game times are 5/6:30.
Sept.
10, 2010--
EP BOUNCES BACK WITH A 3-2 HARD FOUGHT WIN OVER
NORTH KINGSTOWN. The young Townies showed some fight and
backbone tonight in fighting back from being down 2 games to 1 to
win the 5 set match. The team showed better passing while
still struggling with the service game. Sophomore Mary Monagle
shined with 8 kills and 2 blocks and Victoria Blaydes added a team
high 15 kills and 3 blocks. Setter Alex Amaral had a soild all
around match with 25 assists, 5 kills, 5 digs and 2 aces. The
team will continue to work hard to get better and more consistent.
EP will return to the court on Tuesday night at Lincoln.
Sept.
8, 2010--
TOWNIES ARE BEATEN BY MT. ST. CHARLES IN SEASON
OPENER (3-0). Quite simply, Mt. St. Charles was the
better, more experienced team. Mount served the Townies off
the floor in game two and EP had too many service and serve receive
errors to really have a chance to win any games. EP will
return to the court on Friday night, against rival North Kingstown
in a non-league match. Game times are 5:00 and 6:30.

Sept.
1, 2010-- Townies set to open the season on Friday
night, the 3rd, in Injury Fund. EP will be playing
Barrington and Toll Gate in a Tri Match that will begin at 4:30.
EP will play Barrington in match #1, Barrington and TG in match #2
at 5:30, and EP and TG in match #3 at 6:30. The Injury Fund matches
don't count towards the regular season record, but we encourage all
fans to come out and support the teams.
>Oct.
14, 2009--
EP PLAYS AN UNEVEN MATCH, STILL DEFEATS TOLL GATE
3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-15).
The Townies had an
uncharacteristically bad night passing and receiving serve, but
turned in one of their better offensive performances with only 7
hitting errors all night. The service game was strong with 10
aces. Alex Amaral had 17 assists, 4 kills and 9 digs, and
Morganne Booker had 6 kills and 3 blocks. EP will travel to
Ponaganset on Friday, game times are 4:45 and 6:30.
>Oct.
13, 2009--
TOWNIES LOSE IN FINALS OF KOCH EYE INVITATIONAL TO
PROUT 2 TO 1 (23-25, 25-12, 12-15). EP made it out of pool
play with a 6-0 record. They beat Cranston East, Coventry and
Tiverton to come out of pool play with a #1 seed. The Townies
beat East Greenwich in the quarterfinals 2 to 0, and then faced
rival North Kingstown in the semis. EP dropped the first game
to the Skippers and then won two straight to make it to the finals.
EP faced off against Prout in the finals and played a solid match
but just didn't make enough plays to win back the Championship
Trophy. Jessica Amaral and Amanda Cabral were chosen to the
All-Tournament team. EP will return to league play on
Wednesday night at home against Toll Gate.
>Oct.
8, 2009--
TOWNIES TRAVEL TO CHARIHO AND WIN IN 3 (25-9,
26-24, 25-15). EP hit the road and played a sound all
around game against a tough Chargers squad. Chariho played
relentless defense and EP continued to play smart offensively.
The middle duo of Morganne Booker and Kim Thomas combined for 14
kills and 8 blocks. Jessica Amaral and Ashley Curti
contributed solid defense with 26 digs. The Townies will play
in the Koch Eye Invitational on Monday at CCRI/Lincoln. The

TOWNIES WIN THE 9TH/10TH TOURNEY. EP
went 6-0 in pool play, beating East Greenwich, Barrington and
Warwick Vets. The Townies played Cranston East in the
semifinals and started off very slow. EP rebounded to win
25-22, and 25-18. EP moved on to the finals to face Central
Falls which had only dropped one game all day. The Warriors
beat a shaky, nervous Townie team in the first game 26-24. EP
regrouped early in the second game and had a 5 point lead shrink to
1 as they pulled out a 25-23 win in game two. EP jumped out
early in game three and withstood a CF rally to win the decisive
third game 15-9. Alex Amaral was chosen as the Tournament MVP,
and Alyssa Dias and Kim Thomas made the All-Tournament Team.
>Oct.

EP DEFEATS CUMBERLAND 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-5).
The Townies traveled up to Clipper Country for tonight's match,
and came away with a lack luster win. Coming off of Tuesday's
win, the team was a little flat. The Townies will return to
action on Tuesday at home against Lincoln. EP will host the
9th and 10th Grade Tournament at home on Saturday morning.
First matches begin at 9:00 am.
>Sep
29, 2009--
TOWNIES END THE STREAK, DEFEAT LASALLE 3-0 (25-13,
25-16, 25-20). What a night for EP to play its
best volleyball of the season. With LaSalle looking for its
51st consecutive win, the Townies had other plans. Behind
solid passing, defense (72 digs) and tough serving, EP took control
of the match in game 1. The Townies were led by sophomore Kim
Thomas' 9 kills and 5 blocks, as well as 8 kills from Amanda Cabral,
7 from Charlotte Newton and 20 assists from Alex Amaral. The
defensive quartet of Jessica Amaral (19 digs), Amanda Cabral (17
digs), Ashley Curti (12 digs) and Alex Amaral (11 digs), refused to
let a ball touch the floor. It was a total team victory, and one
that was hard earned. The team will return to the court at
Cumberland on Thursday.

errors to start the match. However the team pulled itself
together and played focused volleyball in the third game. EP
was led by Charlotte Newton's 8 kills, 14 assists, 2 aces and
2 blocks. Kim Thomas continues to play well with 6 kills and 2
blocks. Victoria Blaydes made her season debut after

EP MAKES IT UGLY, AS THEY DEFEAT CLASSICAL 3-0
(25-22, 27-25, 25-23). The Townies
almost seemed like they wanted to make this a tough match.
With 19 hitting errors and 9 service errors and numerous
miscommunications in the back row, EP made this a struggle. In
each of the games the Townies found themselves trailing, only to
fight their way back into the game and win it. EP was led by
senior captain, Jessica Amaral's back court defense, with 16 digs,

took the team a little longer than necessary to bounce back from a
poor performance as the team struggled in game one with 10 hitting
errors and 4 service errors. EP regrouped and fought their way
to some form of consistent volleyball. Sophomore Alex Amaral
continued her solid play with 7 kills, 11 assists, 3 digs and 2
aces. Senior Morganne Booker had 7 kills and 2 blocks.

(25-15, 25-15, 25-18). EP turned in a lackluster
