A PERFECT ENDING TO A PERFECT SEASON.  TOWNIES WIN D-III TITLE IN STYLE

East Providence captured its first State Title in thirty years Sunday with a 6-1 victory over Scituate High School.  The win capped off an incredible season that saw the Townies run the table with 24 straight league wins.  Louis Peterson, the Championship Series MVP, and David Hill each had hat tricks to account for No Caption

the Townie scoring and the Townie defense was stellar.

In a complete team effort East Providence dominated play from start to finish and played their finest game of the season.  Cameron Ford was once again solid between the pipes and Patrick Gormley chipped in with three assists.  The Townie players and staff would like to thank all our fans for their great showing this weekend.  We would also like to thank the Athletic Department and Mr. Ricci for the great reception.

TOWNIES TAKE GAME 1 OF CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES 6-4
East Providence defeated Scituate 6-4 on Saturday at Providence College behind outstanding goaltending by
Cameron Ford and third period goals by Louis Peterson (his third of the game) and David Hill.  The Townies jumped out to a 4-1 first period lead and then held off a furious Spartan comeback.  East Providence tries to clinch its first state title in thirty years on Sunday at 1:00 at Providence College.  Patrick Gormley and Anthony Tavares also added goals for the Townies and Ross Amaral played a superb all around game.

TOWNIES ADVANCE TO FINALS
Mike Cicerone's goal in the third period proved to be the difference as East Providence defeated North Smithfield 2-1 Saturday night at Smithfield.  Cameron Ford was outstanding in goal as he turned away 21 shots and Tyler Elmasian scored the first Townie goal and assisted on the game winner.  East Providence moves on to meet Scituate on Saturday at Providence College at 1:00 pm in the first game of the best of three championship series.  The Townies stand at 22-0 in league play and advance to the championship round for the first time in nine years.

SODERBERG, TOWNIES SHUT DOWN NORTHMEN IN GAME 1

scored two goals and Patrick Gormley and David Hill each chipped in with one as East Providence put together one of the season's more solid efforts.  The Townie defensive corps of Soderberg, Anthony Tavares, Jared Hill, and Jeff Fontes was outstanding, limiting North Smithfield to only thirteen shots.  Louis Peterson contributed to the win with two more assists.  The Townies will try and wrap up the series tonight at Smithfield.

PETERSON AND HILL COMBINE FOR SIX GOALS AS TOWNIES ADVANCE
Louis Peterson
and David Hill each scored hat tricks and Cameron Ford made 29 saves as East Providence advanced into the Division III Final Four.  East Providence senior co-captain Travis Barao was outstanding at both ends of the ice and contributed with an assist and overall solid play and junior forward Mike Cicerone notched his second goal of the playoffs to help the Townie cause.  East Providence will face off this coming Friday at Lynch Arena against North Smithfield at 7:30.  The Townie players and coaching staff would again like to thank our fans for their tremendous support.

GORMLEY LEADS TOWNIES PAST PANTHERS IN GAME 1
Patrick Gormley scored two goals and played a stellar defensive game as East Providence took a 1-0 lead in their best of three playoff series against Johnston with a 5-1 victory at Lynch Arena on Friday night.  Louis Peterson, Ross Amaral, Mike Cicerone, and Jared Hill all added goals and Cameron Ford turned away 17 shots in the Townie victory.

SIX TOWNIES SELECTED TO ALL-DIVISION TEAM
David Hill, Louis Peterson, Patrick Gormley, and Cameron Ford were selected by the coaches as first team All-Division players in Division III Central.  Ross Amaral and Bryan Soderberg were chosen as second team players.  East Providence players were selected for six of the twelve available All-Division slots.

PETERSON NETS TWO IN DIVISION I ALL STAR GAME
Louis Peterson, the leading scorer in RIIL, scored two goals as a member of the Division I home All-Stars on Sunday at Smithfield.  Peterson, who led all Rhode Island High School players with 53 points will also receive the Thayer Award, given by the coaches to the player who has recorded the most assists during the regular season.

TOWNIES COMPLETE PERFECT REGULAR SEASON
Hat tricks from David Hill and Patrick Gormley and two goals by RIIL scoring champ Louis Peterson led the Townies to a 10-2 triumph over Narragansett last night at Smithfield. East Providence recorded 64 shots en route to their 18th straight league victory.  The Townies will face off against Johnston in the first round of the RIIL playoffs on Friday night at Lynch Arena.  East Providence finished the regular season with 117 goals for and only 18 against.

TOWNIES SHUT DOWN WIZARDS ON SENIOR NIGHT
Six different Townies found the back of the net and Shane Santos recorded his second straight shut out as East Providence sewed up the Division III regular season crown last night at Lynch Arena. Tyler Elmasian, Ross Amaral, The "Hill Brothers" (not to be confused with the Hanson brothers), Mike Cicerone and Louis Peterson all scored, while seniors George Butler and Travis Barao contributed with solid play.

TOWNIES TOPPLE MOUNT HOPE AND MIDDLETOWN ,IMPROVE TO 16-0
East Providence defeated Mount Hope by a score of 4-2 on Monday afternoon getting a key goal by Ross Amaral half way through the third period and then an empty netter by David Hill to seal the deal.  Patrick Gormley accounted for the Townies' first two goals and Cameron Ford was once again solid between the pipes turning away 18 shots.  Divsion III South's 1st Place occupant Middletown came to
Lynch with a 12-2 league record on Wednesday and left on the short end of a 7-3 Townie win.  Louis Peterson scored two and assisted on two and Patrick Gormley, David Hill, Jeff Fontes, Ross Amaral and Tyler Elmasian all chipped in with one goal a piece.  The Townie "maroon line" of Travis Barao, George Butler and Zach Palumbo did a tremendous job of fore-checking and was instrumental in the victory.

HILL AND PETERSON LEAD TOWNIES OVER PROUT, CLINCH DIVISION III CENTRAL
David Hill recorded a hat trick and Louis Peterson edged one step closer to the Thayer Award with five more assists as East Providence defeated Prout 10-0 at Boss Arena.  Patrick Gormley and Bryan Soderberg each chipped in with two goals, while Tyler Elmasian, Mike Cicerone, and Ross Amaral, each had one.  Shane Santos registered the shut out for the Townies. This Townie win along with Mount Hope's loss to St.Raphael clinches the Division III Central title for East Providence.  This is the first Townie Hockey division title in nine years.

East Providence got goals from Travis Barao, Bryan Soderberg, and Louis Peterson to earn a hard fought victory against the second place Huskies.  Cameron Ford stayed hot between the pipes turning away 21 shots and Ross Amaral earned star of the game honors for his two way play and hustle.

FOUR TOWNIES SELECTED FOR ALL STAR GAME
Senior Louis Peterson was selected by the coaches in Division III to be the league representative in the Division I All-Star Game to be played at Smithfield on February 27.  Ross Amaral, Patrick Gormley, and David Hill have been selected to play in the Division III game. Michael Cicerone has been selected as an alternate.  Coach Amore will serve as the home coach for the Division III game.

MAKE UP DATES SET FOR SNOWED OUT GAMES
The Townies will play two games during the February vacation week.  Tuesday, February 22 vs. Mt.Hope at Lynch Arena at 1:30 pm and Wednesday, February 23 vs. Middletown at Lynch Arena also at 1:30 pm.

TOWNIES TOP SCITUATE, REMAIN UNBEATEN IN LEAGUE PLAY
Senior captain Travis Barao's third period goal unknotted a 3-3 tie and Louis Peterson's second goal of the game gave the Townies a 5-3 victory over the previously unbeaten Spartans.  Ross Amaral and David Hill accounted for the other two Townie tallies and Cameron Ford pushed aside 28 shots for the victory. Mount Saint Charles and the Townies are now the only undefeated teams in the RIIL.  The Townie players and staff would like to thank our fans for their great show of support this weekend.

FORD POSTS TWO MORE SHUTOUTS, GORMLEY NETS HAT TRICK AS TOWNIES SWEEP THE WEEKEND
East Providence shut out both Providence Country Day and North Smithfield this weekend to improve to 9-0 in Division III Central.
Louis Peterson had a hand in virtually every goal as he garnered eight assists in the two games.  
Patrick Gormley increased his league leading goal total as he scored three of the Townies four goals against N.Smithfield on Monday afternoon.  Cameron Ford remained hot between the pipes posting his fifth and sixth shutouts of the season and Travis Barao added a goal and an assist on the weekend to go along with some solid defensive play.  The Townie "gold line" of Mike Cicerone, Ross Amaral, and Tyler Elmasian continue to climb the league's scoring charts as each player had either a goal or an assist on the weekend.

TOWNIES OFF TO FAST START
East Providence has begun the 2004-05 campaign with a 9-0 league record.  The defense has been led by sophomore goaltender Cameron Ford who has posted five shutouts and owns the league's lowest goals against average.  Freshman defenseman Bryan Soderberg and juniors Jeff Fontes, Jared Hill, and Anthony Tavares have provided excellent support for Ford and are the backbone of a team that has allowed only five goals in seven league games.  The offensive is led by the explosive line of seniors David Hill and Louis Peterson and junior Patrick Gormley. Peterson leads all scorers in Division III.

HILL AND FORD NAMED TO TIMES ALL TOURNAMENT TEAM
Senior captain David Hill and sophomore goalie Cameron Ford were both named to the Times All Tournament Team for thier efforts in the Times Holiday Classic.  Hill scored four goals in the three games and Ford allowed only four goals in the three day tournament.
