Boys Indoor Track & Field: Moura Places 5th In Long Jump,Townies Place 20th At State Meet.

The Boys Indoor Track & Field team placed 20th at the Rhode Island Track & Field State Championship Meet. The meet held on Saturday February 18, 2012 at the Providence Career and Technical Academy offered a great deal of disappointment for the Townies who had hoped to perform much better. The Townies Chris Moura continued his impressive string of  performances in the Long Jump, jumping a season high 21'-4 1/2" to place fifth. The 4x200 Meter Relay Team consisting of Chria Moura, Josh Rambert, Eric Towne, and Ryan Williams recorded their top time of the season and placed just out of the scoring in 7th place. Josh Rambert also ran a season and personal best time in the 600 Meter and placed 8th overall. Both the 4x200 Meter Relay team and Chris Moura earned spots in the New England Track Championships, which will be held in Boston, MA. on March 2, 2012 at Northeastern University's Reggie Lewis Center. Other athletes who should be commended on outstanding seasons and qualifying for the State Meet are Ryan Williams in both the 55 Meter and 300 Meter, Justin Pelletier in the High Jump, and Corey Agin in both the Shot Put and 55 Meter High Hurdles.  Despite the team's disappointing finish, the coaching staff is extremely proud of the improvement the team demonstrated throughout the season. The team was dominated by underclassmen and the immediate future of the program for next year and the upcoming Spring Season looks extremely bright, Townie Pride is on the way back.. The coaching staff is also extremely proud of the manner in which the team conducted themselves throughout the season. Throughout the season the team demonstrated exemplary behavior and sportsmanship, while also exhibiting an ability to perform well in high pressure situations.
